Chocolate Shell Raspberry Overnight Oats

who knew breakfast could taste this good and still be healthy!

I’ve been seeing this trend all over TikTok lately where you melt your favorite chocolate and spread it over your smoothie bowls. Not only does it taste delicious, but it is so beyond fun and satisfying to break the “magic shell” and reveal a stunning smoothie underneath.

I decided to switch things up and try it with overnight oats, and I am GLAD I DID!

It’s really quite simple to make too! Because we all know i’m all about simple and quick, healthy breakfasts!

All you have to do is make your favorite overnight oat recipe, melt some of your favorite chocolate, and then spread the chocolate over the oats, and place in the fridge overnight like normal. The next morning you will jump out of bed and run downstairs (that’s what I did) to break the shell and DEVOUR the oats!

I decided to go with raspberry overnight oats because I had some frozen raspberries, but also because it’s one of my favorite flavors, and the stunning color would look great as a reveal under the chocolate.

I am super glad I went with the raspberry because, even though I wasn’t thinking of it at the time, raspberry and chocolate go SOOOO well together!

You can see from the video too that my overnight oats are a little on the “wet” side and less thick. This is just how I prefer them, so I’ll add more liquid, but it’s totally up to you how you want to enjoy them!

Raspberry Overnight Oats with a Chocolate Shell

  • ½ cup rolled oats gluten-free
  • ½ cup almond milk add more if you like it more liquidy
  • ½ tbsp maple syrup
  • cup raspberries I like a lot, so feel free to add more / less
  • pinch of salt
  • 1 tbsp chia seeds
  • optional add-ins (flax seeds, almonds, walnuts, protein powder, etc)
  • dark chocolate melted


  • Add all of the ingredients together in a mason jar / bowl and mix until combined
  • Melt the chocolate in the microwave at 30 second intervals
  • Spread the melted chocolate overtop of the oats as evenly as possible
  • Place in the fridge overnight
